Did you hear something? Maybe the sound you heard was as quiet as your cat licking her paws. Or maybe it was loud, like a siren going by. Sounds are everywhere, and you have two cool parts on your body that let you hear them all: your ears! Your ears are in charge of collecting sounds, processing them, and sending sound signals to your brain in a form it can understand. One of the most remarkable things about this process is that it is completely mechanical. Your sense of smell, taste and vision all involve chemical reactions, but your hearing system is based solely on physical movement.

Preparing children for life is an art. There are many things that parents should know and do about this. The children who appreciate their talents and capabilities—believing in the importance of them—and have self confidence become active agents in their personal improvement since belief and confidence motivate them. Instead of waiting for an opportunity to knock at their doors, they should take advantage of present opportunities.

By focusing on commonalities such as shared land, a shared language, our common humanity, universal needs and fears, and so on, we will recognize again that what we have in common far exceeds what sets us apart from each other. Because we need unity far more than division and exclusion, let us for now leave aside discussion of the issues that divide us. This awareness that all people belong to the same family, through their common origin Adam and Eva and desti nati on, should lead to a higher universal responsibility to practice tolerance in our lives.
